A New Beginning at Cornerstone Baptist Church

What is a Church?

A Church is the people--God's people.

I've been attending this particular Church for twelve years, and it's the people, not the building that keep me coming back. Our membership of people are the most thoughtful and giving people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing, and our Pastor knows how to deliver a message, right to your heart.

This church has had incredible growth. From its humble beginnings of five men who said they wanted to buy a delapidated old church to the grand opening this past weekend of a new sanctuary, God has blessed and blessed and blessed. Ten or more years ago we had to go to two services because there simply wasn't room for the 100-plus people who were showing up faithfully, so we raised the money to double the size of the church and add an ell with classrooms. No long after it was finished, we found ourselves having to go back to two services again because there wasn't enough room for seating. The new sanctuary seats about 500 people, and last weekend it was almost completely full! I don't think God was kidding when he said "if you build it, they will come!"

We know we have a special church because we keep our eyes on God. We don't look around to see what is wrong, we look around to see how God has blessed us. Sure, there have been very rough times in our church--our pastor's wife died from cancer, but we know God is always there, always directing our paths.

God is ALWAYS good, even during bad times when we don't understand what is going on.

My church is so small but the members are my family. We care about each other and are there for each other when times are tough. You're right, it's not the building, it's the people. Some people go to church for the building, believe it or not. The more chandeliers and stained glass windows, the better. Not for me.
